Celebrating our creative community at the Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2021 Vernissage

Last Thursday the wonderful team at the Caloundra Regional Gallery hosted the Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2021 Vernissage. It was a fabulous night for Argon Law as the Principal Sponsor to celebrate our creative community and meet local artists who are part of the 40 finalist artworks on exhibition from 27 August to 10 October.

The evening’s formalities started with a welcome to country by Aunty Helena Gulash - Kabi Kabi elder and Sunshine Coast Advisory Board member and was hosted by Sunshine Coast Council's Claudia Di Blasi, Manager Arts, Heritage and Libraries.  Art Prize guest judge Renai Grace, Director/CEO of the Museum of Brisbane expressed how impressed she is by our region’s commitment and professionalism to the arts. Sunshine Coast Art Portfolio and Deputy Mayor | Division 1 - Cr Rick Baberowski shared how pleased he is to see that six of the 40 finalists were from the Sunshine Coast and how this exhibition provides a fascinating insight into the feelings of our artists as a great showcase of art of the moment.

Soon we will take art to the streets of the Sunshine Coast and drive the BMW3 series art car that is wrapped in artwork by Agnes Kohler thanks to Coastline BMW.

Winners will be announced on 23 September, with the event livestreamed on Caloundra Regional Gallery’s Facebook page. The major prizewinning artwork will become part of the Sunshine Coast Art Collection.

We encourage you to see this exceptional collection at the Caloundra Regional Gallery and vote in the People’s Choice Prize (until 19 Sep).
